About QMC

President's Letter

Dear Patients, Families and Friends,

Welcome to Quincy Medical Center – a private, non-profit community teaching hospital with state-of-the-art medical technology and a highly skilled staff.  We have a rich and dedicated history of providing more than a century of public service to the City of Quincy and communities of the South Shore. As a practicing specialist in diabetes and vascular surgery, as well as the President and CEO, I can tell you that our team of almost 400 physicians and hundreds of supportive caregivers are singularly focused on providing our patients with state-of-the-art medicine through compassionate, personalized community-based healthcare.

We have made tremendous progress since privatizing in 1999 from Quincy City Hospital, a tax-supported, publicly-owned and run institution.   Our Alliance for Quality with Boston Medical Center and Boston University School of Medicine brings academic medicine to the community and has enabled the hospital to develop new services, improve diagnostics, and bring in additional expert specialists to work alongside its accomplished community-based physicians.

As a community hospital, we are the first place many people turn to for their healthcare and education.  Whether for an annual check up, a trip to an emergency room, a diagnostic test or a highly technical surgical procedure, Quincy Medical Center plays a critical role in making sure the residents of the South Shore receive the comprehensive healthcare they need.  As one of the fastest growing hospitals in Massachusetts, Quincy Medical Center has earned outstanding quality scores from national, specialty and state accrediting agencies.

We are also proud to carry on this hospital’s commitment to improving the health and well being of all residents of the communities we serve – regardless of an individual’s ability to pay.

With all that is happening at Quincy Medical Center, we encourage you to take the opportunity to learn more about us and participate in our free educational sessions, screenings, and more.  We look forward to continuing to serve the needs of the community with compassion, expertise and high quality healthcare.
